Sarah Palin

Didn't see anything about her here yet. I've been following news information on her just with one eye, but for me she seems to be too dangerous person to let have more power than she has already. I'm surprised that women = mothers in States are so willing to vote this one. She seems to be a full blooded redneck in her mind. It's really a very strange statement from her to tell that she would be ready to start the war with Russia in case Georgia was a member of NATO and would be threaten by Russia. Hey, what happened to good ole diplomacy?

I really feel that the person who lives in the middle of the nowhere in Alaska, got a passport only few years ago and traveled twice abroad (Germany, Kuwait) is not maybe, how would I say, aware of the reality elsewhere. As Americans tend to be very centered only in their own country and do not have much knowledge (history, news) from elsewhere. Nor that they would be in most cases motivated to get any. Correct me, Larry, if I'm wrong.

She is sending her "junkie" son away and Iraq is perfect because this looks like The Family is serving the country this way. The real reason probably is that she wants him somewhere where he cannot cause any problems for her carrier at the moment. Maybe the daughter could follow him as well...

This woman Palin seem to have a lot of unclear things also in her life and career. Why in the world people can even consider voting someone who begins to get stains already during the election process? Didn't Americans get enough of that during the period they had Bush? Oh yes, sorry, I forgot, it's all about the eye glasses that make you look smart... :DD

The sad truth is that anyone can become president, no matter how dumb they are.

Just look at..........

Bush
Hitler
Stalin
Pol Pot
Ivan The Terrible
Vlad Tepes
Saddam
Khomeini
Mussolini
Kim Jong
Reinfeldt

Shall i go on?

It seems that the most stupid people always end up in some kind of leader position.

There are several major constituencies in the Republican party these days: country club Republicans (the wealthy), militarists, Fundies (aka "social conservatives"), and hardcore firearms buffs. McCain is perceived to be strong in the first two categories, and Palin is perceived to be strong in categories 2 - 4. She 'balances the ticket' for the Republicans.

Since 1980, the Democrats have become Republicans, and the Republicans have become neo-Fascists. Yes, Palin is a nutcake. But the sad truth is that she's a mainstream Republican.

There's a lot of speculation about McCain's other reasons for choosing Palin as his 'running mate'. There are a few women who will vote for McCain simply because a 'sistah' is on the same ticket. But Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton.

It's also very possible that Romney and the other heavyweights had already quietly turned down the offer. They may view McCain as a loser, and may also view the second-banana slot on the 2008 McCain ticket as an albatross around the neck of any Republican who runs for president in 2012.

1. McCain did not "choose" Palin as his running mate. She was "settled upon" as a compromise candidate between McCain and the Republican party bosses. You won't see much about this in the media, but there were a few leaks about how his first two choices were rejected by the party bosses that came out before they were suppressed.

2. When Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, (1996-2002), she showed some bizarre bits... Upon taking office, she asked for updated resumes and resignation letters from most of the top officials to "find out if they supported her or not".. Fired the City Librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, because Emmons responded that she would fight any attempts at Library Censorship.. Palin was forced to revoke the firing the next day because of a tremendous outpouring of public outrage.

She also fired the Chief of Police, because "The NRA didn't like him." He sued, but the court upheld that the "mayor has the right to fire city employees for any reason, including political ones."

3. Wasilla, Alaska, during Palin's terms as Mayor, had a population of 6,300 people at it's height. It's a tiny, dinky town. Palin hired a law firm to lobby successfully for $27 million in federal "earmark" funding to build all kinds of stuff.. a youth shelter, a transportation hub, sewer repairs, and a $15 million rail line linking Wasilla to a popular local ski resort.

By contrast, the town I went to highschool in has around 5,000 people.. and we were excited when we got a gas station and a McDonalds.

Palin also had to hire a city manager. For a town of 6300 people, that's absurd. Managing the city is what the *mayor* is supposed to do.

4. She's a religious lunatic. She's a long-standing member of the Wasilla Bible Church, which has espoused such imbecilities as "Palestinian terrorist attacks on Jews are God’s judgment on the Jews for failing to convert to Christianity" and has just recently begun a "Pray Away The Gay" campaign to try to "convert" homosexuals to heterosexuality.
"Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all." -- Douglas Adams

Well, Druegan and others... I cry out the desperate question: Why do weirdos like this get so much support if everybody knows all those facts already???

And how come people choose their favorite candidate according to what kind of eye glasses she wears or what hairdo she has? Closing eyes completely from the facts that really are not flattering at all?!!!

How can people be soooo stupid?

Everything seems either acted or like a brainwashed behaviour.

Pheeew, people are just so dumb.

What people really need in this world, isn't leadership, what they need is to think for themselves.

did you read the comments? Incredible! Those people are scary

"That was the best speech of EITHER convention! Sarah Palin reinforces the values and and beliefs of Reagan. She's a REAL American, someone who understands and will serve the people of our country - and not the special interest groups and elite. We can trust McCain and Sarah to really put Country First. As a woman I am proudly voting for Sarah!!"
